James R. Maurice's Obituary
James R. “Jim” Maurice, 78, of Clearwater, FL passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 8, 2020 in Clearwater, FL with family by his side. He was born to James Arthur and Dorothy (DuFloth) Maurice, June 15, 1941 in Monticello, Iowa. Jim graduated from Monticello High School in 1959 and received a BBA and MBA from the University of Iowa. He served in the US Army from 1962 to 1964. Jim made his career at Outboard Marine Corporation (OMC), the highlight of which was when he served as President of OMC Europe based in Bruges, Belgium.
His life included many contributions to the community such as serving as chairman of the Lake County Family YMCA for 19 years and as a board member of the Waukegan District #60 Board of Education for 10 years. He enjoyed swimming, golfing, playing his trumpet and singing. He was a member of the Waukegan Swedish Glee Club and the Chicago Swedish Male Chorus. His real passion, though, was making spreadsheets and he served as National Financial Secretary of the American Union of Swedish Singers while, also, volunteering for the Cultural Heritage Foundation of the AUSS.
Jim divided his time between Chicago, IL and Clearwater, FL, until he moved to Florida full time in 2016. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Tammy; a daughter, Kristen; a son, Jim; 2 brothers, John (Tracie), Steven (Susan); a sister, Jane and grandson, Declan.
