Jarrett R Ellis Jr.'s Obituary
In Loving Memory of Jarrett Ray Ellis, Jr. "Jed"
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved son, brother, uncle, friend, and colleague, Jarrett Ray Ellis, Jr. "Jed," who departed this world on October 4, 2023, in Palm Harbor, Florida, after bravely battling complications from a stroke. Jed's selfless spirit will live on in the hearts and memories of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Jed was born on September 21, 1957, the third child of Jarrett Ray Ellis, Sr, and Joan Ruth Moore (Young). His parents, and his brother Steven Ellis, preceded his passing.
Jed's professional journey was a testament to his unwavering commitment and passion for the restoration field. For more than 37 years, he was a "Road warrior," traveling extensively with EverGreene Architectural Arts, supervising crews, mentoring junior staff, sharing his love of painting, and restoring churches, theaters, and historic government buildings within communities nationwide. His dedication to preserving the beauty and history of architectural treasures left an indelible mark on the world.
But beyond his professional achievements, Jed touched the lives of those around him. He leaves behind a sister, Victoria McCollum, a brother, John Ellis, and many loving nieces and nephews who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts. His family was a source of strength and joy throughout his life.
Jed also had a special bond with his "adopted son," Theory Georgiou. Their connection transcended mere friendship, and Jed's influence will continue to guide and inspire Theory throughout his life.
Jed's selfless spirit and sense of humor will live on in the hearts and memories of all who had the privilege of knowing him. We take comfort in knowing he spent his life doing the work he was most passionate about and, in his free time, exploring the great American outdoors, camping, golfing, and fishing with friends and family.
To honor and celebrate Jed's remarkable life, the family plans to hold a private gathering in the near future. A Memorial Golf Tournament will also be organized next year, a fitting tribute to a man who enjoyed life's simple pleasures and the camaraderie of friends on the golf course.
