Jean Ann Henley's Obituary
Jean Ann Henley, 88, of Largo, Florida passed Friday April 26th. She is survived by one sister, Harriett Spearman, two children, Douglas Henley and Linda Spicer, two grandchildren, Joseph Gallo (wife Jean Gallo), and Shelby Kemp (husband Allen Kemp), and two great grandchildren, Hailey Gallo, and Andrew Gallo. She was a devoted Mother, Grandma, and Nana leaving broken hearts behind that were not ready for her to gain her Angel Wings and fly to heaven.
Jean was born in Lapel, Indiana March 11th, 1931 to Dale Hersberger and Sharley Stottlemyer Hersberger. She grew up with six siblings Vivian, Virginia, Keith, Kenny, Dale Jr., and Harriett. She spent her career as an RN after graduation from Methodist School of Nursing in Indianapolis, IN in 1952. She worked at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville, IN and after moving to Florida in 1960 with her husband and two children she worked at Morton Plant Hospital. The majority of her career was an office nurse for Dr. John Shuttleworth a prominent cardiologist in Clearwater. She finished her career in nursing in 1995 working at Bayview Gardens an ALF facility for Morton Plant.
Jean was a devoted member of Aldersgate United Methodist church where she attended worship, Sunday school, and volunteered in the church office one morning a week.
Her hobbies included bowling in the Tootsie Rollers league on Wednesday mornings at Maple Countryside Lanes and knitting with Angel Stitches at her church.
She was also an avid sport fan of tennis (which she played until physically she was unable), baseball, and a season ticket holder for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for decades.
We love her and miss her greatly!
