Jean Ann McCormick's Obituary
Jean McCormick of St. Petersburg passed away April 2nd. Born in Louisiana at Ft Polk to Grace and Kenneth Cox. Jean lived in many places growing up in the military. Her love for her county was only matched by her love of education. She received her bachelors from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and quickly obtained her masters and became Nationally Board Certified to teach anywhere in the United States. Once published in the Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers honoring our nations most respected teacher. She spent time teaching at the Air Force Academy elementary school on base in Colorado Springs and in Annapolis Maryland. Jean taught at Safety Harbor Elementary and Northwest Elementary in Pinellas County Schools she recently retired after teaching over 32 years. Time outside education was spent time was enjoying life, rescuing dogs, and spending time with her grandson.
Is survived by her mother Grace Cox from Longmont Colorado, Daughter Amy McCormick Bowles son Paul McCormick and Sister Jackie McLaughlin in Tacoma Washington, brother Bill Cox from Boulder Colorado. Grandson Gavin Bowles and son in law Graeme Bowles.
Celebration of life will be held at Clearview Methodist church in St. Petersburg at a date to be determined.
