Jeanne Henriette Clement's Obituary
Jeanne (Jeannette) Henriette Clement, 92, passed away peacefully at home on March 5, 2026, in Clearwater, Florida.
Born on July 8, 1933, in Cognac, France to Frédéric Guilbon and Mélanie (Richard) Guilbon, Jeannette began her professional life shortly after completing her education, taking her first position working with the military in France. In the early 1960s, she courageously moved to the United States, where she built a life defined by service, dedication, and resilience. Jeannette proudly became a U.S. citizen in 1973.
Jeannette devoted 35 years of her career to the United States Government, serving in a variety of roles. She retired in 2004 from the U.S. Department of Defense, Department of the Army, Medical Services Corps, Human Resources Command as a Human Resources Technician. Her work positively touched the careers of thousands of Medical Service Corps officers and reflected her strong sense of responsibility, professionalism, and commitment to public service.
Throughout her adult life, Jeannette lived primarily in Alexandria, Virginia where she raised her two children Brigitt and Eric, and Clearwater, Florida—two places she proudly called home. She was strong, independent (sometimes stubbornly so), had a beautiful smile, impeccable manners, and a silly sense of humor. She was known in her later years as taking walks along the golf course behind her home at Crystal Bay searching for golf balls, taking them home, and cleaning them until they looked new again. She was so persistent that one time in her hunt for a golf ball that was just out of reach – she fell in the pond - at age 90!
Jeannette was preceded in death by her children, her daughter, Brigitt, and her son, Eric. She is survived by her granddaughter, Erika Smith, three great-grandchildren, her caregiver who became family, Lindell Newton, her former daughter-in-law, Julie Del Rosso and her beloved dog Bijou – her family in France, and the many friends she made along the way.
Jeannette will be remembered for her perseverance, her fierce protection of those she loved, impeccable manners, beautiful style, and the life she built across continents. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. One of her favorite songs was "Non, je ne regrette rien.” by Édith Piaf. To those who knew and loved her – Jeannette has always been strong.
I Regret Nothing
No, no regret No,
I will have no regrets
All the things that went wrong
For at last I have learned to be strong
No, no regrets
