Jewell Amanda Behney's Obituary
Jewell Behney, nee Jewell Amanda Waln, was born in Nampa, Idaho in 1927 to Claude and Irma Wayt Waln. Her family lived for many years in Miami, Florida, and Jewell graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. Jewell met James "Jim" Stanley Behney in Florida after he completed his tour in the United States Navy. It was a case of love at first sight. They married in 1951 and had three children, Laurence, Lorraine, and Bruce. The family moved often for Jim's sales career, making homes in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, and Florida. But Florida was always the place Jewell loved best, and she was thrilled to return here when Jim retired. The couple first settled in Guadalajara, Mexico, before moving to Homasassa, Florida, and then Dunedin in 1998. A voracious reader her whole life, Jewell was a volunteer at the Dunedin City Library and kept a home filled with books. She loved flowers, the ocean, and "pretty things," and created a beautiful home wherever she lived by decorating with Victorian-style furniture and art. Jewell was a devoted daughter, cousin, wife, and mother, and she doted on her grandchildren.Jewell is survived by her children, Laurence Behney of Martinsville, Indiana, Lorraine McDonald of Orlando, Florida, and Bruce Behney of Louisville, Kentucky; her grandchildren, Monica Behney of Richmond, Virginia, Allison Behney of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Nicholas Behney; and her dear friend John Trueblood of Louisville, Kentucky.*******Arrangements under the direction of Moss Feaster Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dunedin, FL.
