Jimmy Hampton's Obituary
Jimmy Lee Hampton, a veteran of the U.S. Army and longtime resident of Doral Village, passed away on April 29, 2024, surrounded by his family. Jimmy was born on October 2, 1940, to Evert and Elisabeth Hampton in Richmond, Indiana. As a private first class for the Army, Jimmy served overseas as a motor sergeant and military police. During Jimmy’s time of service overseas, he met the love of his life for over sixty-three years, Gisela Hampton. Jimmy and Gisela married on February 28, 1961. After Jimmy and Gisela returned, they built a loving family and made a lifetime of friends.
Jimmy was a proud father of his and Gisela's two boys, Bobby Jo Hampton, and Mike Hampton. After his military service, Jimmy worked for the Pinellas County Sheriff's Department for over twenty years. He was a proud member of the Free Masons, The American Legion Post 0194, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 15010, and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Department.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Evert and Elisabeth Hampton, sister Lucille (Hampton) Berry, brother David Hampton, and sister Genie (Hampton) Richardson. Jimmy is survived by his wife, Gisela Hampton; son, Bobby Hampton, Colleen Hampton, Mike (Jolyn) Hampton; grandchildren, Michelle Hampton, Jason Hampton, Brittany (Michael) York, Jordan (Charles) Zegley, as well as three great-grandchildren, and extended family, and many friends. The family will later have a graveside military service to honor Jimmy's life and military service. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation in your charity of choice in Jimmy’s name.
