Joanne Marie Bauman's Obituary
JOANNE MARIE (Lubert) BAUMAN
Joanne M. Bauman, 78, died peacefully January 25, 2021 at the home she loved in Clearwater Beach, Florida after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 19, 1942 in Spangler, PA and grew up in Johnson City, NY. Joanne was the daughter of John J. and Margaret (Sheredy) Lubert.
Joanne graduated from Johnson City High School, Class of 1960. Following graduation, she worked at IBM-Owego where she met Peter F. Bauman. After their marriage Peter’s service in the U.S. Army took them to Bangkok, Thailand where Joanne worked during that time for a supplier for the U.S. Government, Philco-Ford Corporation. Upon returning to the states, they resided in Dayton, OH before settling in Vestal, NY to raise their growing family. Joanne then worked for the SUNY Binghamton Small Business Development Center and subsequently earned her Bachelor of Science in Business in 1996. Joanne and Pete would have celebrated 56 years of marriage in February.
Joanne was never one to sit still. She loved volunteering, was an avid pet lover, and had many hobbies. Joanne was a faithful and dedicated member of St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Clearwater Beach. She loved assisting with Sunday flower arrangements or making the altar look beautiful for Christmas services.
Joanne was a loyal baseball lover and she always volunteered for work at the field, whether it be the Binghamton Triplets or Clearwater Phillies. Her love of sports could also be seen in coaching her daughters’ softball teams, ensuring every one of her children made it to their practices on time, or cheering them on from the stands-all the while working a full-time job. When she moved to Florida, Joanne’s golf game really shined and she was a 3x club champion.
Joanne and Pete enjoyed spending summers at their cottage on Owasco Lake, NY where they were often joined by family and friends. The cottage holds a special significance for the family as all the construction was completed by Joanne and Pete along with the assistance of their children.
Joanne was predeceased by her parents and also her in-laws Harold and Mary (Helten) Bauman. She is survived by her husband, Peter F. Bauman, and her children: Suzanne Bauman; Linda (Bauman) Ostoin and her husband Steve; Peter Bauman and his wife Clair; Michael Bauman and his wife Amy. Joanne also had 9 beautiful grandchildren who were all so cherished and loved by her: Elizabeth, Daniel, Olivia, Cian, Killian, Fynn, Mitchell, Wyatt, Baylor.
