Joanne Helen Johnston's Obituary
Joanne Helen Johnston, age 80, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2025, in Largo, Florida.
Born in Queens, New York, Joanne moved to Gulfport, Florida, where she grew up. She pursued a career in nursing, graduating from nursing school and dedicating her skills to patient care at St. Anthony's Hospital until 1968. Beyond her professional life, Joanne was deeply involved in her community and church, where she actively taught Sunday school.
Joanne's life was characterized by her loving, giving, and family-oriented nature. She generously volunteered her time at the ballpark where her daughters played softball, at their schools, and later, at her nursing home, always eager to contribute and support those around her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Garth Johnston; her parents, Frances and H. Peter Polski; and her brother, Peter Polski.
Joanne is survived by her loving daughters, Jessamyn Johnston and Kinnan Johnston; her step-daughters, Tracy Wolfe and Jamie Logan; and her cherished grandchildren, Dede, Foli, and Kokoe Creppy. She also leaves behind her sister, Elizabeth Tolson, and niece, Spring McKinney. Joanne's warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
