Joanne McIntyre's Obituary
Joanne McIntyre, a beloved wife, and mother, passed away at age 75 at Morton Plant Hospital on March 13th, 2023.
Joanne was born on August 5th, 1947, in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Bill and Frances Mobberley. She was the oldest of four children and graduated from Dixie Hollins High School in St. Petersburg, FL.
She spent over 30 years in the electronic component distribution industry, where she was a pioneer and mentor for women. She was a founding member of Women in Electronics, the first woman Division General Manager and Regional Vice President at Future Electronics. She broke the glass ceiling in what was, at the time, a man’s world. After 20 years at Future Electronics, she retired and joined her husband, Bob, at DITEK. She was the President of DITEK for over 18 years and her leadership transformed the Company into the leading surge protection manufacturer it is today.
Joanne actively supported organizations that help women and children in the community, including the Pace Center for Girls, the Resource Center for Women, and CASA. She was passionate about, and served on the board of, the Beth Dillinger Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to providing food, clothing, and education to youths in need. Joanne also served as a past Vice President of Suncoast Voices for Children, which supported the efforts of the Guardian Ad Litem and was also the Past President of Partners ‘n Progress, which raised funds for the development of Largo Central Park and the Largo Cultural Center.
She was a “mom” to many, an incredible role model, and a wonderful friend. She touched the lives of many with her generosity and kindness, and her legacy will always be remembered.
She is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob) McIntyre; her daughters, Wendy Gattis and Melissa Lostraglio; sons-in-law, Dave Gattis and Chris Lostraglio; grandchildren, Michael Ramirez, Corey (Nicole) Lostraglio, and Amanda Lostraglio; great-grandchildren Caden and Emma; brother and sisters-in-law, David and Nancy Mobberley, Dan and Rita Mobberley, and Scott and Julie Mobberley, and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Joanne on April 29th, 2023, from 11:30am to 3:30pm at Island Way Grill in Clearwater, FL. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations to The Beth Dillinger Foundation, Inc., in honor of Joanne.
