Joe G. McElveen's Obituary
Joe G. McElveen, Sr., age 90, of Clearwater, FL died January 12, 2018. Born in Safety Harbor, FL to George A. & Lucy L. McElveen/Towner. He graduated from Clearwater High School, class of 1945. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II and in the Korean War, 45th Infantry Division – 180th Regiment, George Company from 1951 thru 1953. After the war Joe became a police officer for Safety Harbor, Florida and had also served as the Safety Harbor Fire Chief. He was the owner of Stelmar Mfg., Inc. a medical manufacturing equipment business in Safety Harbor for over 30 years. In 1989, he sold the business and retired. He was a charter member of both the American Legion and the V.F.W. in Safety Harbor. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Marjorie E. McElveen, three daughters, Pamela J. Olberg, Hibbing, MN, Cynthia M. Marshall, Orlando and Mary A. McElveen, Palm Harbor, FL; two sons, Joe G. McElveen, Jr. & Thomas C. McElveen, Minneapolis, MN. Nine grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death, daughter, Nancy A. McElveen & son, Frederick G. McElveen. Visitation will be at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, 693 S. Belcher Rd, Clearwater, Thursday, January 18th 6:00PM – 8:00PM.
