Joel Edward Fiser's Obituary
Joel Edward Fiser
Dunedin – Joel Edward Fiser passed away on January 20, 2026, at the age of 65 from cancer. He was born July 5, 1960, in Barksdale AFB, Louisiana to the late Col John Edward Fiser and Jacqueline Darlene Fiser.
Joel graduated from Choctawhatchee High School and Rollins College. He was an exceptional basketball player and was inducted into the Rollins and Sunshine State Conference Halls of Fame. He is still Rollins’ all-time leading scorer. After college he played professionally in Europe. Joel was also a talented artist and computer programmer. He viewed his programming as an extension of his art. He greatly enjoyed time in his art studio painting and drawing until late in the night. He loved gardening and landscaping and creating new things. He also enjoyed a good debate and passionately defended his beliefs.
Joel’s greatest passion was his son Ian Marley Fiser. Joel worked hard to ensure Ian had a good childhood and home life. Most recently, Joel was excited and proud of Ian’s career in the Air Force and his future.
Joel is survived by his brothers Jeff (Lois) of Jupiter, FL, Chris (Dawn) of Alberton, MT and Curt (Dana) of Dunnellon, FL and several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He also leaves behind many special friends that also loved Joel and will miss him dearly.
Joel will be cremated and no memorial service is planned at this time. To remember Joel, he would simply ask that you be kind to those less fortunate.
