Joel B. Solomon's Obituary
With tremendous sadness, we announce the passing of Joel B. Solomon, 77. He passed away on August 12, 2022, holding the hands of his loved ones at Mease Countryside Hospital.
Joel was born on March 10, 1945, in Worcester, MA to Irving Solomon and Esther Millman. He graduated from Classical High School in 1963 and went on to attend Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He held various positions over the years, but most notable were the result of his early passion for technology, which placed him in roles at Data General, Prime Computer and GTE/Verizon. He spent the latter half of his life in Real Estate Sales and Property Management, working side by side with the love of his life, Kim.
As a young adult, he loved ice fishing, skiing and golfing. He deeply loved his family, potato chips, sunsets, evenings on his patio laughing, cooking up his famous steak and home fry dinner, and all things sports, but especially his beloved New England Patriots. It was often said he missed his calling to be a sports announcer- his sports acumen and opinions will be missed by many. Joel was charismatic and full of life, lighting up any room he entered with his full face, ear to ear smile and contagious laugh and optimism. To know him was to know he was truly one of a kind.
Joel was a proud and loving Husband, Father, Brother, Grampy and Friend. Joel is survived by his wife and soul mate of 24 years, Kimberly Clyde and their goldendoodle, Cheerio; his children, Steven Solomon and his wife Amy Solomon, Jody Gaucher and her husband Mike Gaucher, Jeffrey Solomon, and Lianne Riley and her husband Kevin Riley; his grandchildren Sarah Solomon, Nikki Gaucher, Danny Solomon and Kaci Gaucher; and his sister, Retha Almeida and her husband Leo Almeida, as well as other extended family and many, many friends.
There is a hole in our hearts without you here. We’ll miss you endlessly.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Joel on October 8th at Crescent Oaks Country Club, 3300 Crescent Oaks Blvd, Tarpon Springs, FL 34688 from 12pm-2pm. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, you make a donation for cancer research at:
