John Freytag Jr.'s Obituary
John Freytag Jr., of Dunedin, FL., beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at the age of 83.
John was born on July 3, 1940 to the late John Freytag Sr. and Selma Freytag. He is the beloved husband of the late Mary Lou, who passed in 2020. John and Mary Lou enjoyed 51 years of a wonderful life together. They raised their three children in Sharpsville, Pennsylvania and retired to Florida in 1995, settling in Dunedin. John and Mary Lou shared a life full of love, family and travel. Along with traveling, John was in the VFW, American Legion. He loved to golf, do photography, and video production, and he was a family archivist. He loved spending time with his family and his friend’s enjoying life. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
John leaves behind his son John Freytag III of Dunedin, his two daughters Brenda Freytag-Cook and her husband Rick of Alma, Nebraska and Karen Freytag of Oldsmar, FL, his brother Dennis Freytag and his wife Maryanne Freytag of Largo FL, Brother-in Law David Britton and his late wife Saralouise, Sister-in-Law Clydora Fowler of Hermitage, Pennsylvania, his six grandchildren T.J. Cusatis and his wife Amanda, Melissa Peterson and her husband Richard, Katlin Cook, Daniel Cook, Anton Cook and Emily Freytag, and his three great-grandchildren Kolton, Bentley and Isaac.
A visitation for John will be held on Friday November 24, 2023 from 10am-11am, followed by a funeral service at 11am in the Moss Feaster Funeral Home, 1320 Main Street, Dunedin FL. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Disabled Veterans of America www.Dav.org
