John Arthur Kinghorn's Obituary
John Arthur Kinghorn was born March 7th, 1921 in Detroit,Michigan. He passed away peacefully at the age of 97 on Jan 15th at Mease Manor Continuing Care in Dunedin Florida. He married his high school sweetheart, Millie in 1942 after serving in the Air Force during WWII. John was an engineer at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn Michigan where he proudly worked on the launch of the Mustang, among other projects. After his retirement from Ford, John and Millie were happy to relocate to sunny Florida where they enjoyed activities that ranged from square dancing, golf and volunteering as clowns at Morton Plant Hospital.John had a deep Christian faith that sustained him through the best and worst of times.John was a kind,generous, loving, and witty husband, father and grandfather, but also an engineer to his core, as he was known to repack quite a few car trunks and suitcases. Nothing delighted him more than making others laugh.His great grandchildren marveled at his slight of hand tricks during their visits. He could speak volumes by saying very few words and will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 70 years Millie and his son Steve. He is survived by his loving family daughter Judy(Bruce) Brown, grandchildren Erin (Blake)Pontius and Adam(Stephanie) Brown, and 5 great grandchildren Francie,Scotty, Henry, Austin and Eve, as well as several nieces and nephews. a Celebration of Life Service will take place at a later date in Michigan. Private burial service will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida January 28, 2019 The family would like to thank the staff at Mease Manor for the loving care they provided to John. Donations may be made in John’s memory to a charity of your choice.
