John N. Metropoulos' Obituary
John Nick Metropoulos, 77, of Dunedin, Florida, passed away on Monday April 21, 2014 in James A. Haley VA Hospital in Tampa, Florida. John was born in Tripolis, Greece and moved to Florida in 1978 from Chicago Illinois. John worked as an Electrical Engineer for Zhone Technologies (formerly Paradyne) in Largo, Florida for 30 years. He served in the US Army. John was a member of St. Stefanos Greek Orthodox Church in St. Petersburg where he served as a Cantor for 7 years. He later joined Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Clearwater and served as a Cantor for 23 years. John was a choir director in many churches in Chicago and Florida. He was a choir director for Orpheus International Chorale.He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Metropoulos of Dunedin; daughter, Nikoletta Metropoulos of St. Petersburg; daughter, Stavroula (Nick) Frazis of New York; stepson, Gerald (Tamara) Andros; stepdaughter, Margo Andros (Alejandro) Carrera; six grandchildren; brothers, James and Soterios; sister, Harriet Ruiz. A Viewing will be Sunday, April 27th at 6:00-8:00 pm at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Clearwater, A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 28th at 9:30 am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Clearwater. Military Honors will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at 2:30 pm. Memorial donations can be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 409 S. Old Coachman road, Clearwater, Florida 33765.
