John Joseph Moriarty's Obituary
John J. Moriarty passed away peacefully on February 14, 2020 at age 76 surrounded by his loving wife and family. John was born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey. After high school, John enlisted in the Navy and served as a quartermaster on the USS Canberra from 1961 to 1964. After the Navy, he went on to graduate from St. Peters College. He worked for many years in the auto insurance industry in New York City and Tampa, Florida; eventually retiring from USAA in Tampa.
John enjoyed volunteering and or donating his time to many worthy causes such as Special Olympics. He also enjoyed sports and spending time with family and friends. John and his wife, Annette, of 40 years, resided in Dunedin, FL.
John was preceded in death by his father, John J. Moriarty; his mother, Dorothy Moriarty (NEE Brackett); his brother, Richard Moriarty.
He is survived by his loving wife, Annette Myers Moriarty; his sons, John J. Moriarty and Thomas Moriarty; daughter, Margaret Moriarty Semeniak; brothers, Thomas and Dennis Moriarty; and 6 granddaughters. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to a local animal shelter.
