We are so very sorry to have just found out about Johneva's passing. We would have been there to show our repect for this amazing woman if we would have known. She and our Mom Dot were best of friends growing up in Clearwater. Johneva was such a sweet person and always so uplifting. We loved her and I know Mom loved her so much........

I have known the Grifffin family all my life, my Mom and Dad, Alchia and Alton Bowers, boarded with the family back in the 20's on Wyatt St. In Clearwater, and loved them as long as they all lived. Many humorous stories of the Griffin children, and their loving Mom and Dad. I have one of the books the sisters compiled of the heritage of family, and the many delicious recipes they each contributed. Last time I saw Johneva was at her sister, Jessie's 100th birthday party. She was still so pretty and friendly. What a wonderful, memorable life and legacy she has left for us all to remember. Thankful to have known her. Jeannine Bowers Smith.
My Aunt Johnnie was such a talented southern lady; she made quilts and personalized pocketbooks in addition to having a genuine love of horses and animals on her ranch. She hosted many family reunions and extended family holidays at her sprawling ranch. While teaching students in Hernando County, she brought in many famous authors to entertain the children and even became a puppeteer when teaching as the school's librarian. She became my "second mother" when I had the great privilege of living with her one year when I was 14. We have lost a beautiful treasure and I am left with such fond memories.
