I played quite a few engagements with Buddy Verde back in the 80's and always knew him to be a professional and fair man and bandleader. I will always cherish the memories of those days on the bandstand with Buddy. Rest in Peace.

Buddy was a great friend to my Dad and my son Sam loved calling in to his radio show. I did not know he passed as unfortunately time got away and we fell out of touch. I am so sorry to learn this. I am sure Buddy and Dad have reunited. Sorry for your loss.
I worked with Joe in Brooklyn, he was my partner in the Brooklyn district attorneys office where we were both detective investigators, then he moved to Florida, and we lost touch with other, but I never forgot him he always took my family on his 40 foot houseboat and we spent wonderful times together.rest in peace my friend
My brother Joseph Napoleon was a dear friend to Buddy. I was just looking for Buddy to say hello. Mom and I are here reminiscing about Joe's days in the music business. I wonder if Joe's life may have be longer if he had given up the N.Y rat race and moved to Florida. In any case, mom and I send condolences. I know that Joe was always very fond of Buddy.

Buddy Verdi and his band were truly an institution and a gift to hundreds (hundreds, if not thousands!) of Hillsborough County students through the Arts Council of Hillsborough County's Artists in the Schools program for many, many years. I will never forget Buddy and the amazing band members leading teachers and school administrators through the cafeteria in many schools, playing "When the Saints...", as the students screamed and cheered. Buddy taught them many things about the history of jazz, and how to be joyful and have fun and love learning.
Also, Buddy Verdi's Big Band was a favorite of the Friday Extra Concerts at the Lowry Park Bandshell in Tampa! Buddy was a consummate band leader and a dear, dear man. He will be greatly missed in the Tampa Bay area. His loving partner of many years, Harriet, was also a huge part of the school performances and Friday Extra concerts. She is truly an angel!
Buddy Verdi was one of a kind, and I feel honored and blessed to have known him and worked with him for many years.
Sending love to Harriet, family members and friends at this sad time.

The Buddy Verdi Orchestra opened the first Clearwater Jazz Holiday on October 24, 1980, with Woody Herman and his Thundering Herd closing the show. We will never forget asking Buddy to play "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" while a rainbow balloon sculpture floated over Coachman Park. But, the balloons would not go up, so the city brought in a cherry picker and put Cary Stiff in the basket. They raised the balloons while Buddy and his band played the tune for the 4th time. It was a success!
Thank you for your love of music and contributions to the Clearwater Jazz Holiday.
With our deepest sympathy.

We are very sorry for the loss of our charming and talented friend, Buddy. We remember Buddy and Harriet well for the times we shared at the Clearwater Country Club. I voted for Buddy when he ran for Clearwater City Commission. He didn't win, but he made all the candidate forums the most entertaining events ever, and after that his audiences grew for his orchestra. We remember the inaugural Jazz Holiday Festival and his music. He made Clearwater a better place. Your fans, Sam and Anita McClelland
Taking music to the elementary schools was fun with Buddy. He brought joy to a
lot of people. My deepest sympathy to the Verdi family, Harriet, and close friends.
