Joseph DiSalvo's Obituary
DiSalvo, Joseph “Joe” 84, of Dunedin went home to be with the Lord and reunited with the love of his life and wife of 58 years, Alberta, on February 7, 2018.
Joseph was born on November 25, 1933 in Pittston, PA to Michael and Concetta DiSalvo. Joseph was a proud U.S. Navy Korean War Veteran who served from 1953 until he was honorably discharged in 1960. During his enlistment, Joseph served onboard the USS Warrington DD843 as a Radioman.
In 1972, Joseph and Alberta left their home in Waterbury, CT and settled in Dunedin, FL to raise their family. Joseph was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and was very active in the local community. He was the Post Commander of the VFW Post 2550 in 05-06, a lifetime member of the VFW and DAV, and a member of several organizations including the Fleet Reserve Assn., The B.P.O.E. Elks, The Knights of Columbus, and Toastmasters. He also organized his Navy ship’s reunions and served on the ADA Board of Pinellas County. In Connecticut, Joseph was the Scout Master of Cub Scout Troop 240 and a baseball coach for East Mountain Little League. Joseph owned JM DiSalvo Plumbing and Air Conditioning Company in Dunedin for many years. He went on to work for the Conax Florida Corp before becoming the Director of Maintenance for Suncoast Manor in St. Petersburg, FL.
Joseph was the most fun loving, supportive father a child could wish for. He always put his wife and children first and provided a beautiful life for them. Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alberta “Pinky” DiSalvo. He is survived by his son, Michael (Deborah) DiSalvo; daughter Sandra DiSalvo, sisters Sarah Zabara and Frances Rosa; sister-in-law Roberta (James) McKenna; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday, February 16th at Moss Feaster Funeral Home in Dunedin, FL. A Funeral Mass will begin at 11 am on Saturday, February 17th at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Dunedin followed by entombment at Curlew Hills Memory Gardens in Palm Harbor, FL.
