Joseph R. Huppman's Obituary
Joseph Robert Huppman, age 87, passed peacefully on May 16 at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater after a sudden illness. Services will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes in Dunedin on Thursday May 19, at 12:30.
Joe is survived by his wife, Joan Zajac Huppman, and one sister, Ruth Clough of N. Syracuse NY. The couple has five children: Ann Marie Anthony and husband Rick Schneegold of Durham NC, Joseph Huppman and wife Virginia of Syracuse NY, John Huppman and wife Ellen of Herndon VA, Patricia Huppman of New Port Richey FL, and Carl Huppman and wife Christina of Camillus NY. There are 13 devoted grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Born in Bridgeport CT, Joe spent most of his life in Syracuse NY and retired to Clearwater FL. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church where he was lector for many years, and active as a Boy Scout leader. He served in the US Navy during the Korean conflict, and worked for the Crouse Hinds Company for over 40 years.
Joe and his wife had a camp on the St Lawrence River and enjoyed summers there for many years. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, golf, shuffleboard, and playing cards, but will most be remembered for his treasured wood carvings, with nearly 500 works to his credit.
This beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, friend and involved and dedicated member of his communities, will truly be missed by all of the lives he has touched.
