Joseph William Ronecker's Obituary
Joseph William Ronecker, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on February 16, 2024. He was 80 years old.
Joseph is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Mary Ronecker, and his five children: James (married to Denise, with children Brooke, Tanner, and Jordan), Christine (married to John, with children Janelle, Christopher John, and Cailin), Denise (married to Mark, with children Zachery and Jessica), Ken (married to Sandy), and Teresa along with six great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, William.
Born in Queens, NY, on September 26, 1943, Joseph attended Pace College before embarking on a lifelong career in sales. Known as a wheeler and dealer, Joseph possessed a remarkable gift of gab and overwhelming positivity. He was fast-moving, quick-paced, and always on the go, tackling every situation with unyielding optimism.
Joseph had a passion for thoroughbred horse racing, often frequenting Belmont Park, Aqueduct Racetrack, and Saratoga. Although deemed a lousy handicapper, Joseph had a knack for picking long-shot winners through his unconventional methods. His love for underdogs extended beyond the racetrack, as he tirelessly championed their cause with infectious enthusiasm.
A true lover of life, Joseph was always the life of the party or, in the absence of one, he created it. His storytelling prowess, infectious smile, and hearty laughter endeared him to all who knew him. His sharp wit and quick humor were traits inherited by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Joseph's boundless love extended to all, and he was cherished by everyone he encountered. His life was multifaceted with adventures, trials, successes, and love. May his spirit continue to live on through the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
