After my parents got divorced aunt Jo made an effort to remind us that we were not alone and that we had family. She was so selfless and being a nurse suited her perfectly because she always put others before herself. She was genuine, she always wanted to be caught up on what was going on in our lives so she could be a part of them. She never missed a birthday card, ever! The older I get the more I appreciate everything she did for us, the more I realize what's important, and the more I understand that I want to be there for my family like she was for me. I hope she knew how much she was appreciated, and how much brighter she made this world, we'll all have to shine a little brighter in her absence. Thank you aunt Jo, for everything ❤️

I always loved to see my Auntie Jo. She had a sense of humor that was easy to bring out. Of course the word to best describe her is generous. When I was first divorced she knew it was hard on me. Often, on Sundays after she went to church, she would go by Checkers and bring back food for us. The boys especially loved this and talk about it to this day. Also, she would cut up fresh fruit and put it in 4 baggies for us. She never forgot our birthday. Always a card from our Aunt Jo. Matthew reminded me about the Christmas we all piled in Aunt Jo's car, and went to see Christmas lights at the park. The lights moved and it was fascinating. A reindeer would jump over the car. And we topped it off with a trip to Dairy Queen. Jo we thank you for all you did with us and for us. I know you're in Heaven with all those loved ones who have gone before. Rest in Peace. You will live forever in our 💕.

Aunt Jo, she was a person who would help others with a passion. A kind hearted sole who loved her family. Always part of our Family Reunions and was never afraid to give her opinions. Evertime we visited her we always went out to eat at Boston Market, her favorite place. Near the end, I visited her in the hospital where she was frail and weak. I thought this was it for her and she would never leave that room . I underestimated the fight she had in her. After a while she got better and went home to stay. That visit was over a year ago.
I will always miss Aunt Jo.

Aunt Jo was such a caring person who always put others before herself. At family gatherings she was always asking about you and your family. You could tell she was very interested in what you had to say. The past 2 years is when I really got to know Aunt Jo. Due to her declining health, she needed assistance around her house, doctor visits and grocery shopping. At this point she allowed our family to help her. This was hard since she was such a private person. I got to appreciate her wisdom, wit and the discussions we had. I will truly miss talking about the mountains of North Carolina, going to lunch and hearing her stories about Uncle John. Thanks for the memories Aunt Jo. We will see you on the other side.

Aunt Jo was a smart, caring , lovely woman whom I was privileged to get to know better over the past few years. She was a lively conversationalist and compassionate listener. I always enjoyed the lunches Artie and I used to have with her - and her love of a good salad and a cup of black coffee .

Aunt Jo was a beautiful, strong and independent lady. Always showing pure joy when asking about our lives and interests. I always appreciated the pictures she would give us after our family gatherings. I will miss her smile, our talks and lunch outings. Rest in peace Aunt Jo.
