Jozef Sawka's Obituary
Jozef Sawka, 94, of Pinellas Park, FL passed away June 29, 2018 after a brief illness. Jozef was born in Poland on July 27, 1923 to his parents Jozef and Mary Sawka. He was the youngest of 6 children. At the age of 16, Jozef, escaped Poland during the Soviet occupation during WWII and emigrated to Germany where he lived and worked as a baker and later a small business owner until he came to the United States in 1956. In the States, Josef arrived in Cleveland Ohio where he immediately began his career with Ford Motor Company as a core-fitter until his retirement in 1981. He also was successful and accomplished at buying and managing real estate. Jozef was married to Anne Herakovic, from1959 until her passing in 1986, and raised a family; his beloved son Darryl and daughter Monica. He later married Jaroslawa Dzera in 2000. . He was known to his family as a hardworking ambitious man who was an excellent provider dedicated to providing security. Jozef was a loving husband and father. He was also known to be a kind, generous man to others as well and touched many lives. He is a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Ukrainian Church, St. Petersburg, FL. Jozef is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and sisters and his wife Anna. He is survived by his wife, Jaroslawa and children: Son Darryl and his wife Iryna, their daughter Olga married to Alpir Jundez from Parma Ohio and his daughter Monica and her husband Bob Perino, Pinellas Park FL. Mass will be Tuesday, July 3, 2018, 10:00am at Epiphany of Our Lord Ukrainian Church, 434 90th Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33702 followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery 5233 118th Ave N. Clearwater, FL 33760.
