Whenever people think of Karen, they often say she was glamorous. Karen cared about having nice clothes and jewelry. I have been told that at one time she had her nails done and hair extensions done every Friday and removed at the start of her workweek.
Mom said, she met a glamorous women (Karen) at the condos swimming pool and decided that she would be a. perfect mate for her son. (true or false) , it is a good story). But Karen was so much more than being a glamorous, beautiful woman. She was very intelligent She was ambitious and driven. Laura and I saw her Florida Breast Institute, a state of the art facility. Laurie also watched a video she had where Karen discussed wound care. She mentioned to us that she spent 6 months training at the Cleveland Clinic and never left the hospital grounds. Karen worked very hard all of her life and loved what she was doing.
She and Eddie were the perfect party planners. I will never forget their wedding in Hawaii. It was carefully planned and executed and it was the ultimate good times. But so was Eddie's birthday party in Sarasota as was Lindsay's wedding party as was every dinner at your condo especially the raclette dinner.
Karen also loved a good time. we called her Veuve Cicquot Girl !!!, I remember one night on your deck consuming bottle after bottle of champagne. I also remember the time you visited Cleveland and the Blue Angels planes flew over our heads. (It was Air Show Week). Karen, without missing a beat thanked us immediately for arranging a fly over in her honor. Laurie and I will never forgot the kindness and help Karen provided when we had medical emergencies. When I developed a twisted bowel while we were sailing near Curacao, she walked Rod through our options for me to survive. She has helped Laurie through Josh's struggles and surgeries many times.
You and Karen were a great team enjoying travel, entertaining and just loving life together. You were a lucky man with a very special partner.
Love.
Marianne & Rod
