Kathleen Kelly's Obituary
Kathleen Kelly, nee O'Connor passed away May 4, 2010 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 5th 1929 in Limerick, Ireland to Edward and Mary Kate O'Connor. She was the 7th of 8 children, Edward, Emmett, Pearce, Maureen, Teresa, Nora and Eamon who all preceded her in Death.She left Ireland at the age of 18 and immigrated to Montreal Canada where she met her future husband.She married Robert Emmett Kelly in Toronto, Canada on July 22nd 1951. They lived a few years in Toronto before moving to Buffalo NY. Eventually Chicago Illinois became home and it is where they raised their 2 daughters. In 1973 the family moved back to Galway Ireland and lived there for 2 ½ years. It was a great experience for the entire family. In 1975 the family returned to Chicago Illinois.Robert passed away on Oct. 19th 1986. A few years later Kathleen decided to start a new chapter in her life. She moved to Dunedin Florida to be closer to her daughter Colleen and to escape the cold, snowy winters of Illinois. She would live her remaining years in the Florida sunshine. She made many wonderful friends that she cherished dearly. She will be missed by many people.Survivors include her daughters, Colleen (David) Ballard of Palm Harbor, FL., Maureen (Robert) Remsing of Prairie Grove, IL. Her Grandcildren, Sean Remsing, Ryan Remsing, Brendan Ballard, Shannon Remsing, and Meaghan Ballard. Also many nieces and nephews in Florida, Canada, Ireland and the U.KThe memorial to honor Kathleen's life will be held on Sunday May 16th at the Moss Feaster funeral home in Dunedin Florida at 2:00 P.M.. She will be cremated with half her ashes to be spread over her beloved husband's grave in Illinois. The remaining ashes will be brought home to Ireland to be spread in Killaloe, at the same final resting place as her brother Eamon and his wife Tess.In Lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations can be made in Kathleen's Memory to Suncoast Hospice.
