One of Kathy's admirable qualities was her ability of staying calm when the going got Really tough!
On our 2002 NY vacation, Kathy was driver of the rented car.
Driving from Low Key Upstate NY to JFK airport in the CITY to return the car, we missed the needed exit and wound up at twilight in the Bronx. Knowing this was NOT good for our well-being, KATHY remained calm as I started praying and whimpering. Next thing we knew we were in New Jersey.
Pulling into the first convenience store we found, employees informed us they had " No idea how to get to JFK.". swell...
It was at that moment, God sent an Angel in the form of a human.
He told us to follow him onto interstate ( at least 8 lanes of Crowded traffic) and he would motion to us which exit to take.
He sure did!
About 30 feet from the exit!
Again remaining Calm, Kathy ZOOMED across numerous lanes of traffic and down the exit we went which goes directly to JFK car rental.
Not so fast, not end of happening!
We unloaded our numerous suitcases and boarded a city bus to take us to DOWNTOWN, Manhattan hotel.
EXCEPT the bus driver determined he could not navigate the bus on the side street of hotel location and he deposited Kathy, Me and three weeks of luggage in middle of a VERY BUSY street and uttering a few directional words, LEFT US!
We dragged our selves and luggage to sidewalk and proceeded the trot, taking up valuable sidewalk usually saved for the Thousands of NEW YORKERS, who thought the walkway was THEIRS and let us know it!
Kathy bravely led the way, I was Loudly in distress and wanting my blankie!
After some blocks, Kathy said, " There it is!
Hotel Belvedere!" KATHY was Calm, Cool and Collected the entire time and Sure Saved The Day!
My Sweet, Sweet Younger Cuz. How I look forward to our being together again!
Love, Margaret
