Keith Charles Kurber's Obituary
Keith C. Kurber passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 22, 2019. Born December 19, 1935, Keith served in the US Marine Corps (First Lieutenant) from 1957-1961.
He had a successful career in sales and upon retirement he became quite active in non-profits, primarily Rotary International (RI) and Military Officers Association of America (MOAA). In Rotary, Keith served as Club President of Dunedin North Rotary Club twice and District Governor of District 6950 from 2003-2004. He won nearly every award within Rotary and even has an award named after him in his district. As President of the Clearwater Chapter of MOAA, Keith led the chapter to “Five Star Status.” He was a brilliant example of “service above self.” Both organizations will greatly miss him and his many contributions.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior in September, 2015 at the church pastored by his oldest son while in Fairbanks, Alaska. It was a truly significant decision.
Keith was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth (Honey), his parents Leo and Thelma, and his older brother Larry. He is survived by his sister Rebecca Kurber and sister-in-law Joan Kurber. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family will miss him mightily. They are: his sons Keith II and Kirk (Keith and his wife Nola Kurber have four adult children and fourteen grandchildren); and a stepdaughter-Lisa Butler (Lisa and her husband Mark have two adult children).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Rotary Foundation, 1560 Sherman Avenue, Evanston, IL 60201-3698, or the MOAA Scholarship Fund, PO Box 1824, Merrifield, VA 22116-9917.
There will be a Celebration of Life held Saturday, February 29, 2020, from 3-6 PM, at the Dunedin Golf Club.
