Lavelle Thomas' Obituary
Lavelle Thomas, age 86, of Dunedin, has sadly passed on March 28, 2023.
She has lived mostly in Pinellas County since 1966, when she and her husband, Ray Thomas, moved from Indiana.
She was a longtime member of Skycrest Baptist Church, where she was active until she became ill in 2015.
She was a talented seamstress and crafter, working as a drapery seamstress for several years after her children left home.
After caregiving for Alice, a woman that she and her husband lived with and took care of in her 90s until her passing, she decided to go to school at age 60, and become a CNA. She worked for nursing homes until her retirement in 2002.
She was generous with her time and talents, had a contagious laugh and a ready smile. She had a strong faith and she strove to love everyone she met. Even as dementia began to take her mind, she remained a friendly presence who enjoyed a good laugh.
She enjoyed travel and often went on cruises and tours with her friend Ginni, acting as companion and caregiver on these trips.
Survived by her children, Pattie Thomas, Kansas, Curtis Thomas, Arizona and Doug Thomas, Arizona, her granddaughter, Kristal Thomas, and great-granddaughters, Rain Fitts and Karma Thomas, all in Florida, and her sister, Gwen Dashler, Indiana.
Her family will be holding services in her honor at Moss Feaster Funeral Home on Monday, April 3, 2023, followed by a committal service at Parklawn Memory Garden where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Rufus Ray Thomas.
