LaVon Nawrocik, my mother, was a strong independent woman who faced many obstacles in her life. Mom was a beautiful lady, always well-dressed and put together with hair & makeup. She devoted the first portion of our childhood as a stay-at-home mother to her three children. Mom greeted us every day when we came home from school. As we grew older, we got to see firsthand Mom’s strength and determination to provide for us with only a high school education. Working as a secretary, Mom was the fastest typist in the Mid-West, even on a manual typewriter! She continually emphasized the importance of a college education. Because of Mom, all three of us worked part-time jobs while going to school and were successful in paying for our own educations.
Thank you for being our mother! Thank you for taking care of us, Mom… I can still hear your response, “I wouldn’t have trusted anyone else.”
After we lost Grandma, you missed your mother every day. And now I feel the same. There are many times when I wish I could pick up the phone to share something special about the girls. I know you’d be so proud of them.
Happy Birthday, Mom! Today would have been a milestone birthday--- you’re 80th. We’ll celebrate with you in our hearts! And, of course, top off the celebration with a little ice cream. Gotta treat yourself, right? 😊
