Dr. Lee C. Watkins Jr.'s Obituary
Dr. Lee C. Watkins, Jr., died August 11, 2018. Lee was born September 11, 1927 in New Orleans, LA. He graduated from the Boston Latin School, Harvard College, Harvard Medical School, an internship at Western Reserve University and took a Masters degree in Medicine from the University of Minnesota after a fellowship in internal medicine at the Mayo Clinic. He served in the Army of the United States during World War II and U.S. Public Health Service in active duty and in the Reserve.
He came to Clearwater in 1957 and practiced medicine here for 42 years. He was a member of the staff at Morton Plant Hospital and of Morton Plant Mease Primary Care. He held several offices at Morton Plant Hospital and Morton Plant Mease Primary Care including President of the Medical Staff of Morton Plant Hospital and member of the Morton Plant Board of Trustees.
He was a member of the Harvard College Alumni Association, the Harvard Medical School Alumni Association, the Mayo Clinic Association, the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, the Florida Medical Society and the Pinellas County Medical Society.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty; son, Lee; daughter, Berdell and other loving family and friends.
At his request, there will be no service or memorial.
