As always, Brenda
Played with Woody for Many Years with the Clearwater Bombers was a Great Team Mate and Friend. Woody will be Missed by so many. Lu Woody. Go Play in Heaven You were one of the Best.
Woody was a friend to me when friends were hard to come by. Integrity describes him and I a better person by knowing him.
Woody is a friend of my husband Louis and I remember a story Louis told me of how Woody saw an owner hitting his dog on the side of the road. Woody stopped and took that dog away from them without hesitation. Although I did not know him well he was my hero from that day forward. He will be missed.
I met the woodman at palisades golf course with D Koz. On our way to bay hill. From that first day woody was a friend. I remember one day he asked me to the house on the beach. And I met Karen. Best thing ever for him was Karen. We played golf, we had dinners, went on trips and woody was always woody. If you know him, you know what I mean. When he got his first new hip, he didn’t want anyone to see him with a cane. That dude. His favorite word. Hey dude. DUDE! Yep. That’s him. I always begged him for the past 25 years to let me write his story. It was an amazing story. I’ll always love Leon Judson wood. RIP. Finally
Woody left us with so many good memories that listing them would be impossible.
What I will always remember most about Woody is you could always depend on him to do exactly what he said he would do. His integrity could never be questioned.
I will miss him dearly.
Lou
I met Woody in 1963 when he was 12 and I was 10. I have many great memories of time spent playing baseball and football and just hanging out in and around Tampa. Later when he got a car, he drove us to many dove and quail hunting trips down around Ruskin. Although he became a big sports star in Junior High and High school, he always made time to just hang out with me. Woody loaned me his cars, his money, and his friendship without hesitation, and helped me out of quite a few scrapes in my teens. Although we went our separate ways in our twenties, I always remembered Woody as a generous and loyal friend. I’m glad we got to reconnect in 2019.
