Lillian Sarah (Monahan) Stere
April 1, 1924 - June 18, 2015
Lillian Sarah (Monahan) Stere, 91, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2015 in Largo, FL. She was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania on April 1, 1924 to Susan Louise (Gutshall) and Leo Cletus Monahan. She is survived by her brother Stanley Monahan of Altoona, PA.
Lillian graduated from Altoona High School in 1942. She attended nursing school at Philadelphia General Hospital and served as a cadet nurse during World War II.
Lillian married Donald Roy Stere in 1953 and moved to Clearwater in 1955, where they were happily married for nearly 62 years. She was a loving and proud mother of three daughters and one son. Donald passed away on March 2, 2015. Lillian is survived by her daughters Ellen Stere (John) of Tallahassee, FL, Gail Stere of Parker, CO, Carol Purchell of Tarpon Springs, FL and son Gary Stere (Mitzi) of Jacksonville, FL, along with grandchildren Andrew and Katie Stere.
Lillian was employed as a head nurse at Mease Hospital in Dunedin for many years. She also worked as an aide at Kings Highway Elementary School, was active in Girl Scouts and taught swim aerobics. She loved sewing and quilting.
Visitation will be held Tuesday June 30th at 1pm immediately followed by a memorial service at 2pm Tuesday , at the Moss Feaster Funeral Home, 693 S. Belcher Rd, Clearwater. Lillian will be laid to rest at the Alto Reste Park Cemetery in Altoona, PA.
