Linda Mae Nightingale's Obituary
Linda Mae Nightingale, age 80 passed away Saturday, May 10, 2025, after a brief illness in Largo, Florida. She was a longtime resident of Largo, Florida and moved to the area over 60 years ago from her birthplace of Ocilla, Georgia. She worked for Walmart for over 20 years and at the time of her retirement she was the manager of the Layaway department.
Family was very important to Linda and her favorite things in life were her grandchildren and her husband Bill, both never failed to bring a smile to her face. She was well known for being a very talented seamstress and through the years she made dresses for entire bridal parties, costumes Halloween and other events as well as countless alterations for family and friends. She loved to have fun and in her younger years she was an avid bowler and bowled on several league teams over the years. She loved music and was a tremendous fan of Elvis Presley. Linda enjoyed cruises, and travel, but she considered her visit to Elvis’ home “Graceland” in Memphis, Tennessee as one of the most enjoyable trips she ever had.
She was pre-deceased by her parents Bryant and Fannie Griner, and her son Brian Wickwire. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 31 years – Bill Nightingale of Largo, 3 daughters – Tami (John) Montgomery of Yucca Valley, California; Charlene Carlson of Largo, Florida; and Nichole (Rob) Rickey of Eustis, Florida; 7 grandchildren – Nicole, Paul, Erica, Robby, Jordan, Lauren and Brian and 1 great- grandchild Harper Lynn.
