Lois Kathleen Smith's Obituary
Lois Kathleen Smith, 94, of Dunedin, Florida, passed Thursday, December 3, 2015 at her residence under Hospice care. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa and married her childhood sweetheart Bill. They moved to Lima, a small town in upstate New York where they raised their children, and she worked with her husband in his chiropractic office for many years. Lois was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Lima. She was also a member of the DAR (Daughters of American Revolution.
Lois and Bill retired to Dunedin, Florida and enjoyed many years together pitching horseshoes as members of the Clearwater Horseshoe Club. During that time, she was inducted into the Florida State Horseshoe Pitchers Hall of Fame.
Lois made sure that everyone in her world felt a special bond with her, and she will always be remembered for her kind and loving spirit. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, and was so delighted with the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. William E. Smith, Sr. in 1999.
She is survived by her sons, William (Eileen) Smith, Jr. of Delaware and Robert (Susan) Smith of New York, and daughters Jenene (Roy) Slocum of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Lesley Johantgen of Dunedin, FL, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and loving friends.
A Gathering of Friends will be held Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, Dunedin, Florida. Interment at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida will be Monday, February 1, 2016 at 11:00 am. A Celebratrion of Life will be held in Brunswick, Maine in the late Summer of 2016.
