Lucy Gaputis' Obituary
GAPUTIS, LUCY
95, of Clearwater, FL died peacefully on Thursday, February 22, 2018. Born in South Boston, MA, on April 9, 1922, she lived in “ Southie” and was an active member in St. Peter Lithuanian Church and the Knights of Lithuania. She loved to dance, sing, and crochet. Growing up in the Depression, she forfeited her education to help support her family. During WW II, she worked at the Carr Fastener Co. in Cambridge, MA, making parts for airplanes. After the war, she married Kazimer (Charlie) Gaputis. She always worked while raising her family, and retired from banking in 1977. They were married 29 years until Charlie’s death in 1975, living both in Roslindale and Hyde Park, MA. They were the parents of three children, Thomas (Carol), Charles (Kelli) and Marie (Steven Palis), and she proudly saw all of them threw college and graduate programs. After Charlie’s death, she married Anthony Gaputis, his cousin. They lived in Deltona, FL and were married 30 years. Together they enjoyed cruises, champagne and good friends. Lucy has lived in Clearwater for the past 7 years. She celebrated having six grandchildren, Sarah (Benjamin Kent), Keith (Daina Kelly), Andrew (Kelly Frantz), Bryan (Ally Deziel), Lynn (Eric Stephenson) and Lisa. She was further blessed with six great grandchildren: Garrett, Russell, Adeline, Charlotte, Rosemary and Rosemary. Lucy is preceded in death by her brothers Albert (Veronica) and Francis (Virginia) Markuns, and sister Alice (Stanley Gudis). She leaves cherished memories with many nieces and nephews from the Gaputis and Markuns families.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 1 from 10:00-12:30 at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, 693 South Belcher Rd, Clearwater, FL 33764, followed by a funeral mass at 1:00 at St. Catherine’s of Sienna Catholic Church, 1955 South Belcher Rd., Clearwater, FL 33764. Burial will be on Friday, March 2 at Deltona Memorial Gardens, 1295 Saxon Blvd., Orange City, FL 32763 with graveside service at 1:00.
