Lyn Adele Wilson's Obituary
Lyn Adele Wilson was born on November 3, 1950 into a loving family in Baltimore MD. Her parents, Ida May and Warren, along with her older sister Lorna lived in the Arbutus area of Baltimore County. As Lyn navigated school, the 10th grade alphabetical seating arrangements in homeroom class proved to be pivotal, when she met her future husband, Bruce, seated next to her. They would flirt and pass notes in class and would get in trouble for holding hands under the desk. Once, Bruce remembers Lyn passing him a note which showed a stick figure family: Mom, Dad, and 3 little girls who she had named Jennifer, Elizabeth, and Emily.
The teen romance was put on hold while Bruce served in the Navy during the Vietnam war. They continued to exchange letters during this time. However, after some time, Bruce decided to ask her to marry him. He arranged for Lyn's mother to bring her to the airport to meet him during a break. Lyn later recalled first seeing him after bootcamp and telling her mother "He is so skinny, I am not sure if I like him now".
Thankfully, she was able to look past his changed appearance and the two were married in December 1969. The happy couple moved around in the next few years, moving to Chicago and Virginia Beach before settling back in the Baltimore area after the end of the war.
Lyn welcomed three daughters and gave them the names she had thought of back in the 10th grade. She delighted in motherhood and focused on her daughters and specifically their education. It was her goal to raise independent strong young women.
Later, Lyn became a secretary at a nearby Elementary school, where she worked until her retirement in 2010.
After retiring from Baltimore County Public Schools, Lyn and Bruce moved to Palm Harbor FL to enjoy the warm weather and easy pace of life. Lyn had a total of 7 grandchildren, all boys whom she adored. She had a special place in her heart for the young and felt the most joy when around the little ones.
In her spare time, Lyn loved to SHOP! She would often stay up very late at night to get the best deals on televised shopping channels like HSN and QVC and always seemed to have a box arriving with her treasures. She liked long drives in the car and trips to Hudson's Ice Cream Parlor.
Lyn will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace, and may her memory continue to be a blessing to those whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her husband Bruce Wilson, her daughters Jennifer Slicher, Elizabeth Dompier, and Emily Gasner, her 7 grandsons: Evan Bliden, Ben Bliden, Daniel Varnish, Dayton Varnish, Warren Gasner, William Gasner, and Wesley Gasner.
