Mafe E. Gavile's Obituary
Mafe Elumba Gavile passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer. Born on August 29, 1949, in Igbaras, Iloilo, Philippines, she was the youngest girl of eight children. She is survived by her husband, Baltazar Gavile, her sister Maruja Elumba Fernandez, her sons Adrian (Monica) and Alvin, and her cherished grandchildren, Oliver, Lucas, Nathaniel, and Audrey, who brought immeasurable joy to her days. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ricardo and Presentacion, and her siblings, Premie, Tomas, Rudolfo, Iluminada, Vicente, Maruja, and Ramon, who she now joins in eternal rest.
Mafe had a spirit that was always joyful and energetic. She loved to laugh and was a great friend to many. She was kind, generous, and deeply caring - the kind of friend who made everyone feel welcome. Her love shined brightest in her cooking, where feeding others was her favorite way of showing love and bringing people together. If she wasn’t cooking, you could find her playing mahjong, chatting with friends, tending to her garden, or spending time with her grandchildren. Her faith was also a guiding force in her life, and she remained a devout Catholic throughout her years.
Mafe lived a full and beautiful life, grounded in devotion to her sons and the many friends and family whose lives she touched. Her family will honor her final wish by bringing her urn back to Igbaras, where she will be alongside her parents and siblings. Mafe will be dearly missed, but her warmth, kindness, and the memories she leaves behind will stay with all who knew and loved her.
