Margaret A. Roche's Obituary
On Sunday, May 22, 2022, Margaret A. Roche, loving wife, and mother of two children, passed away at age 86.
Margaret (Peggy) was born on December 24, 1935, in Brooklyn, NY to Martin and Margaret (Deeley) McGrath. After graduating from St. Joseph Commercial High School in 1953, she started her career in the NY Public Library system. On January 23, 1960, she married Richard Henry Roche. After the passing of her husband, Richard in 1968, she relocated to Willingboro NJ to raise her children. There she began a 26-year career in teaching special needs children and adults as she continued her education, earning an Associate Degree from Burlington County College. In 1996, she moved to Dunedin Fl to become Outreach Coordinator at Foundation Village in Clearwater Fl, which served the needs of low-income families. In 2001 she received the Cooperman-Bogue Award in recognition of her service to the Clearwater community. Peggy officially retired in 2010.
Peggy had a passion for travel and saw much of the world with her family and friends. She was an avid bowler and was in many leagues over the years. She was known for her quick wit, her infectious smile, love of shopping and her kind and compassionate spirit.
Peggy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard, her parents Martin and Margaret, and sisters Mary VanDervoort, Ann McGrath and Dorothy McGrath. She is survived by her sons, Richard, and Timothy (Andrea), her sisters Rose, Eileen (Brian), and her many nieces and a nephew.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 24th, 2022, at the Our Lady of Lourdes Church on 750 San Salvador in Dunedin at 10:30AM. In lieu of Flowers donations may be made to The Special Olympics at support.specialolympics.org or Hour Children at hourchildren.org.
