Margit Sereg's Obituary
August 21, 1948 - April 23, 2023
In Loving Memory of Margit Sereg
Margit Sereg, 74, of Oldsmar, passed away peacefully at home after a short, aggressive recurrence of colorectal cancer.
Margit was born in Kecskemet, Hungary, on August 21, 1948, to Jozsef and Margit Csorba. She had a wonderful relationship with her three brothers, Gyula, Bela, and Istvan.
She found love with Istvan Sereg and were married on May 31, 1969. In 1971, they snuck out of communist Hungary with their three best friends in search of a dream of freedom & democracy. They landed in New York City and settled in Passaic, New Jersey, for a couple of years where they had two children, Andrea and Attila.
They discovered Floria, specifically Clearwater Beach, in 1978 on vacation and found a lifelong home in Pinellas County.
Her career was in data processing; she stayed with the same company for over 35 years from its start through three different owners, working hard, never missing work in order to provide the best life for her kids; her strength was unmatched.
She loved the beach and Honeymoon Island was her second home. Her favorite hobby was photography and had a keen eye for beautifully capturing nature.
Margit leaves behind a legacy of deep love for her family and many lifelong friends. Most significantly, she leaves a perfect example of achieving a beautiful life through perseverance and tenacity in following a dream so long ago. Words cannot express how much she was loved and how much she will be missed.
Margit is survived by her brother Istvan Csorba, and her daughter Andrea Henry.
She was preceded in death by her husband Istvan Sereg in 1996, and her son Attila in 2002.
Memorial Service will be held at the Hungarian Christian Church at 303 8 Ave N., Safety Harbor, FL 34695 on Sunday , May 14, 2023 at 11:00. The service will incorporate both Hungarian and English. There will be a reception to follow at the church .
