Maria Bohlman's Obituary
Maria Bohlman, 68, of Wilson, New York, passed away March 27, 2023, at Bayfront Health Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida, after suffering a stroke on March 26. She was surrounded by family, including her loving husband of 45 years. She was born in Niagara Falls, New York, to the late Charles and Irma (DiMeo) Montagna on December 23, 1954. She loved growing up with a big Italian family. She was a city girl who had a chance meeting at a dance club with a country boy, Richard Bohlman, whom she married on June 3, 1977.
Maria graduated from LaSalle Senior High School in 1973. She devoted her life to her children, leaving her job as a secretary when her first child was born. In later years, Maria and her husband created and operated The King’s Pines Cabins in the Adirondack Mountains of Croghan, New York. She loved hearing from rental guests about memories made at the cabins.
She was a devoted grandmother who loved spending time with her grandchildren, talking, snuggling and cheering them on. Maria's favorite pastime was walking along the shores of Lake Ontario at Wilson-Tuscarora State Park with her husband. She looked forward to him making her tea each morning. She enjoyed writing, rock painting, sketching, singing and reading. Maria was a wonderful conversationalist who made people feel cared for. She devoted much time to prayer and loved the Lord.
Maria will be deeply missed by her husband, Richard; children, Shannon (Philip) Welty, Christopher (Jessica) Bohlman; four grandchildren, Laurel Welty, Daniel Welty, Simon Bohlman, Warren Bohlman; two siblings, Richard (Donna) Montagna, Joanna (Paul) Torreano; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
The family will notify loved ones in the future when a Celebration of Life is planned in Western New York.
