Marilyn N (Nye) Brandt's Obituary
BRANDT, Marilyn Nye, age 87, of Palm Harbor, died Friday, December 14, 2012 at Brookside Hospice in Palm Harbor. She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the oldest child of Mr. & Mrs. Milo A. Nye of Albion, Indiana. Marilyn was graduated from Albion High School, now Central Noble High School, class of 1943. She attended Purdue University and was graduated in 1947 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutritional Science. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Marilyn worked at Cook County Hospital in Chicago as a Dietician before she met her husband, Alfred W. Brandt, Jr. on a blind date. They were engaged in July of 1949 and were wed on October 15 of that same year in Valparaiso, Indiana. Mrs. A.W. Brandt, Jr. soon became a homemaker and loving mother of four children. Her three sons enjoyed Scouting and all became Eagle Scouts. Her proudest accomplishment was her children. She enjoyed cooking and collecting recipes, knitting, playing bridge, scrapbooking and spending time with her family and friends. She moved to Palm Harbor with her husband in 1976 where they owned and operated Florida Maids on Call. Mrs. A.W. Brandt, Jr. is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred W. Brandt, Jr., and her son, David J. Brandt, husband of LouAnn Brandt, of Latrobe, Pennsylvania. Survivors include two sons, Alfred W. Brandt, III and his wife, Sandy, of Forest, Virginia, and Garry N. Brandt, Sr. and his wife, Debbie, of Palm Harbor, Florida and one daughter, Barbara A. Findlay and her husband, Jim, of Harrison Township, Michigan.Mrs. A.W. Brandt, Jr. is also survived by her brother, John Nye and his wife, Donna and their two sons, George and Jacob, of Wilmette, Illinois. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; Shelley Brandt, Kristin Brandt, Will Brandt and his wife, Whitney, Ryan Brandt, Benjamin Brandt, Jim Findlay, Jr., Philip Findlay, Ian Findlay, Siobhan Findlay, Christin Harris and her husband, Joel and Garry Nye Brandt, Jr., and 2 great-grandchildren; Austen Grecko and McKenna Brandt. A memorial service in her honor will be held at Walnut Creek United Methodist Church in Warsaw, Indiana on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 11am.
