Martha T. Acker's Obituary
Martha Norene Tippens Acker returned to her Heavenly home on January 17, 2026 just two months shy of her 93rd birthday.
Her son, Alexander Robert “Bob” Acker and daughter, Deborah “Deb” Hargrave (James Michael “Mike” Hargrave) rejoice at her reunion with her husband/our dad, Alexander R. “Alec” Acker who predeceased her, July 30, 1996.
Alec and Norene were married January 21, 1952 in Wheeling, WV where she was born on March 16, 1933. Soon after, they moved to Orange County, CA seeking job opportunity and the hope of raising a family.
Martha (Norene) worked a variety of jobs throughout her lifetime, finding her niche in hotel reservations and management…most notably at the Riverside Resort Hotel in NV, where Bob lives and close to where she and Alec had moved when he retired. Upon his passing, Martha relocated to Florida to be closer to Deb and Mike.
A Christian, Martha belonged to Crossroads Christian Church in Largo, faithfully volunteering there for many years.
She loved to travel, shop, read and garden. Norene and Alec enjoyed many trips throughout their beloved Southwest, especially Monument Valley. Several of her fondest travel experiences were trips she took with son, Bob to China, England, and a nostalgic return to WV. She loved Cardinals. She loved watching WV University football, and Pittsburgh Penguins Hockey.
Besides her son, daughter and son-in-law, she leaves behind her son’s significant other, Nicole; her beloved cat, Queenie; and many dear friends…
