Mary L. Dorn's Obituary
Mary Louise Dorn was born in Quantico, Virginia. She was the loving wife of Vernon F. Dorn Sr. for 38 years. She was the loving and caring mother of 3 children..Deborah Dorn Page, Carol Dorn Warner, Vernon F. Dorn Jr. (Butch). Mary had 3 beautiful grandchildren, Adam J. Dorn (AJ) - Son of Debbie, Taylor Dorn and Savannah Dorn - Daughters of Butch. Mary also has two sisters, Barbara Kearns of Pennsylvania and Janet Shipley of Maryland.
Mary grew up between the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Baltimore. She met her husband and was married in June of 1960. Mary and her husband had three children in as many years. They lived in Baltimore, Maryland and raised their family. After all the children moved out, they moved to Carol County Maryland and enjoyed living in the country. When they had enough of the cold and snow they moved to Clearwater Florida and took Debbie and her son AJ with them. Mary lost her husband in January of 1998. She moved once again into Caribbean Isles to her "little mobile home" where she lived until 2012. She made her final move to the Barrington in Largo, where she made many dear friends.
Mary enjoyed doing crafts, reading, facebook, and playing words with friends with her niece every night, but what gave Mary the most joy was her family. Mary had the heart saddening event of losing her youngest daughter Carol to cancer, in 2005. She made sure she did not miss anything in life after that. The love of her family and their antics kept her young at heart and active. She loved traveling to North Carolina with Debbie, to visit her son Butch and his family. They spent holidays, birthdays, Christmas o July, and other special occasions with Butch's family, and his very entertaining neighbors and friends.
Mary loved her grandchildren very much. She was very interested in all they did. She was able to attend many of her grandson, AJ's, football games when he was in high school and well as his graduation. Even though her granddaughters, Taylor and Savannah, lived in North Carolina, she made sure she knew what they were involved in. She attended the high school graduation of Taylor and was very proud. She knew she would not make it to see Savannah graduate but knew she did make it into the college she wanted. Her grandchildren gave her so much joy in her life and she hoped that the love she had for them would stay with them forever.
She loved her family the way she lived her life, with everything she had.
The service for my mother will be Thursday November 20th at 7:30 p.m. at the Barrington. The address is 901 Seminole Blvd. Largo FL 33770
