Mary Helen Entwistle's Obituary
Mary Helen Entwistle passed away peacefully on March 22, 2019. Mary was born in Ogdensburg, New York in 1932 to Thomas Murphy and Francis Sullivan, both of Irish decent. Mary earned her bachelor’s degree to become an elementary school teacher. Her first teaching position was in a third grade classroom at Solvay Elementary, New York. In retirement, Mary worked for 20 years with H & R Block and also worked with St. Petersburg College as a testing administrator for college exams.
Mary is predeceased by her late husband, James “Jim” Entwistle. As Jim was the PGA golfer professional at Tuscaroa Golf Club in Marcellus, New York for nearly 38 years, Mary enjoyed playing golf and assisting at the club. In later years, Mary was an avid bridge player and loved to travel.
Mary is survived by her nephew, Bill Entwistle, Jr. of Pembroke Pines, and three nieces, Kathy Burkett of Pensacola, Amy Barningham of West Palm Beach, and Julie Westrich of Narvarre, Florida, her cousins Pat Mahar, John Easter, Mary Norman, Carol Wilcox, and Kathleen Rivers along with their families.
Mary’s many friends and family have shared that she was a true gem. Her kindness and thoughtfulness followed her everywhere. Mary will be truly missed and be remembered as the kind of person you hope to meet.
