Mary T. Markham's Obituary
Mary Theresa Markham, 88, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024 in Clearwater, Florida.
Mary was born to Joseph and Mary O’Rourke in Valley Stream, Long Island, NY. She graduated from St. Paul’s Catholic High School in St. Petersburg, Florida where she met her future husband, Keith Markham. They were married in 1956, living in Washington for a short time, then later moving to Miami, Florida. Their next move was back to St. Petersburg, Florida where they raised three daughters. Mary worked for St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Largo as a Physical Education teacher for many years, where she was beloved by all her students. After leaving St. Patrick’s, she worked for her son-in-law Dan at Clearwater Rehab and Sports Medicine for several years before her retirement as his receptionist where she made each and every patient feel welcomed. In turn, many of those former patients became lifelong friends with Mary, stopping by the rehab center just to say "Hi." Her hobbies included gardening, dancing, music and travel. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s varied activities.
Mary is preceded in death by her daughter Eileen, her husband Keith, her parents Joseph and Mary, and her brother John. She is survived by her three daughters, Colleen (John), Kathleen (Dan), and Maureen (John), her grandchildren, Erin, Michael, Ben, and Ethan, and seven great-grandchildren.
She will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.
