Mary C. Springer's Obituary
Mary Elizabeth Center Springer, 98, a second generation Floridian, peacefully went home to be with her Lord on January 23, 2013.Mary was a lifelong resident of Dunedin where she and her husband, Albert Nichols Springer, raised their daughters and participated in the growing community. Mary was active at First United Methodist Church of Dunedin originally in the Epworth League youth group. As an adult, she assisted in the Sunday School department for 20 years, was involved in the United Methodist Women, was a Rebecca Circle officer and in her later years enjoyed an adult Bible study class. Prior to her death, Mary had been the longest living member of the church. Her parents, Sarah and Timothy Center, had been part of the small founding group of the church.Following graduation from Clearwater High School in 1932, Mary worked for the Dunedin Times. She walked the downtown Dunedin area gathering news for the paper and was also their proof reader. Later, she worked in the business department of the Clearwater Sun. Mary is survived by her loving family: daughters Sally Berthy (Jack) and Holly McEachern (Bill); grandchildren Brent Berthy (Julie), Bryan Berthy (Jan), Craig McGhie and Kellie Andrews Hunton and great grandchildren Kristen Andrews, Jennifer and Katelyn Berthy, Caleb and Amanda Berthy and Paige, Mason and Abigail McGhie. Her lifelong friends and newest friends at Mease Manor remember her as a gentle, sweet, selfless woman. A Celebration of Life will be held at First United Methodist Church of Dunedin on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 2:00 pm. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 1:15 pm in the Sanctuary.Memorial donations in Mary's memory may be made to First United Methodist Church of Dunedin, 421 Main Street, Dunedin, 34698.
