Our families grew close soon after our son, Grant started kindergarten at Athenian Academy where he was in the same class as Mathias. Over the years, the boys played together and had sleepovers at each other’s homes. They loved to challenge each other. Little wrestling matches would take place and Mathias would usually win. I also enjoyed cheering them on as they played Upward soccer and flag football together.
Even after we moved to Orlando, the boys kept in touch and found ways to visit. One of my favorite memories is when Mathias and Grant decided to ride a mattress down our staircase during one of his visits.
Our boys’ friendship grew and so did ours. We value our friendship with Holly and James and their sweet daughter, Ella. We will always remember Mathias and share these wonderful memories. We will miss him. Our deepest condolences.

Mathias was a very sweet and loving soul. There wasn’t a moment in class or anywhere we were with him that were weren’t laughing because that’s just the type of person that he is. One particular thing that always stuck with me is how he would sit in his chair like a spider and jump off of it he was hilarious. He always made you laugh even on a bad day. he always tried to stay in contact even after middle school and never missed saying happy birthday I’m forever grateful I got to experience him as a friend and I love him and will miss him.
Mathias was always always making me smile there wasn’t any class or any time that I wasnt laughing when he was around he was one of the goofiest and sweetest person I know. In class he would jump up in his chair and then off his chair like he was a spider😂. He always was just so funny and goofy. He made sure to alwaysss wish me happy birthday and kept in contact even after we went to different high schools. He was truly a special soul who always had everyone he came across smiling and I truly will miss him. He was gone too soon.
