Mattie "Chevy" Anita Burgess' Obituary
Mattie "Chevy" Anita Burgess, 70 and a longtime Tampa resident, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 10th. 2023.
The daughter of the late Clarence and Lois (Douglas) Burgess, Mattie was born on July 30th, 1952 in Hamtramck, Michigan. Mattie was married to Robert Gathrite, Sr. who predeceased her.
Chevy enjoyed her time as a Bus Driver, a painter, an apartment manager, a cyclist, an artist and a Sports Lover especially, Football, Soccer and Cycling.
Mattie is survived by he son, Robert Gathrite; two granddaughters, Shatonia Terry and Cree Kitley; a brother, Carl Burgess; her sister, Kathleen Charity and many friends including Jamar Phillibert.
In addition to her parents and husband, Chevy was predeceased by a brother, Ronald Burgess.
In lieu of floral donations, memorial donations may be directed to Mattie's sister, friend and caregiver, Kathleen Charity, 6218 Beacon Isles Drive, Apt 102, Tampa, FL 33615 or to Chevy's close friend, Jamar Phillibert.
