Maurice C. Shea's Obituary
Shea, Maurice C. 89, beloved husband of the late Joan (Goodman) Shea, passed away March 12, 2016. Maurice was born to Ellen and Michael O’Shea in County Kerry Ireland on January 6, 1927. He came to the United States in 1948 where he served in the US Army during the Korean War. After his military service, Maurice moved to Waterbury, Connecticut where he met and married Joan in May, 1953. He worked his entire career for Truelove and Mclean in Waterbury and retired to Largo, Florida in 1993. While living in Waterbury, he was a parishioner of SS Peter & Paul Church. Maurice was the quiet man from Ireland whose devotion to his family was in evidence every day. He thoroughly enjoyed working in his yard, listening to his Irish music and lining up a “dead soldier” or two with his adoring family.
He is survived by his sons Maurice, Jr of Tolland, CT; Robert (Lisa) of East Hartford, CT; Patrick (Kathy) of Clearwater, FL; loving grandchildren Katie Miller (Aaron); Maura Shea(Josh Zygmont ); Daniel Shea (Emma DeGregorio ); Timothy Shea (Shayna Marmon); Patrick Shea (Jenna Meoni); and sister-in-law Mary Walsh; as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his son Michael Shea; daughter-in-law Cindy Shea; and best friend and brother-in-law Frank Walsh.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Visitation will be on Friday March 18, 2016 from 9:00 to 9:30 am a funeral mass will be at St. Catherine of Siena at 10:00 am with burial to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. www.mossfeasterclearwater.com
